Smith: Father and son loved watching Titans at CWS in Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. – This Midwestern town rolls out the red carpet for two weeks every June, welcoming national college baseball-title chasing teams and their legions of fans from all over the country to the "Greatest Show on Dirt."

As soon as visitors walk off planes at Eppley Airfield, they see College World Series banners. Tourism-bureau greeters offer guidebooks to the town where Warren Buffett resides, directions to Gerald Ford's birthplace and recommendations of Omaha Steaks, since this town certainly knows its way around a cow.

Hotels, restaurants, bars and local businesses court out-of-town fans who, for a change, wear T-shirts for schools other than the state's unofficial religious institution, Nebraska.
