Ten Titans Get Thumbs Up for CSU Research Contest

Ten Cal State Fullerton student researchers from across disciplines will advance to the 29th annual California State University Research Competition May 1-2 at Cal State San Bernardino. The finalists were selected from more than 50 of their peers who took part in a campuswide contest in February.

The top three finishers, who received monetary awards, are:

  • First place-$300, Brenna Biggs of Anaheim, senior chemistry major
  • Second place-$200, Tara Johnson of Foothill Ranch, senior art-entertainment art/animation major 
  • Third place-$100, April Nakagawa of Brea, environmental studies graduate student

Other undergraduates selected for the CSU contest and their majors are:

  • Kyle Hess of Fullerton, biological science  
  • Carina Sandoval of Placentia, biological science
  • Evangeline Sheridan of Fullerton, art-creative photography
  • Joshua Silva of Santa Ana, biological science
  • Gregory Weisberg of Orange, geography and earth science

Other graduate-level finalists competing and their majors are:

  • Baqer Alhabeeb of Fullerton, mechanical engineering
  • Mitzi Avila of Monrovia, sociology
