Healthcare Experts Collaborate to Tackle Substance Abuse

CSUF nursing, social work and human services faculty members are working together as a team to train students to screen for Substance Use Disorders. Through a $258,823 grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, a federal agency in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the program’s first year will fund a “SBIRT” (screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment) training program, a standardized procedure developed by the agency to identify drug and alcohol abuse.
