Watching Gentrification Grow in the Town Where He Grew Up
Erualdo González Studies the Evolution of the City's Latino Culture
Jan. 18, 2016
Erualdo González, associate professor of Chicano and Chicana studies at Cal State Fullerton, watches the changes occurring in his hometown of Santa Ana.
The scholar was born in Santa Ana in 1974 and lived there most of his life. His mother worked at a jewelry store and a bank, managed a shoe store and briefly owned two clothing stores and was a good friend of nearly all the other business owners on Calle Cuatro in Santa Ana's downtown. As a child he watched the identity of the area evolve.
González' memories and studies on gentrification were reported in the Feb. 18 issue of the Orange County Register.
