Helping Future University Students Improve Math and English Skills

Close to 200 Orange County education professionals came together January 11th to discuss initiatives that could help high school students get ready for college.

The gathering was organized by California State University’s (CSU) Early Assessment Program, available at all 23 CSU campuses.

Experts discussed new and existing programs that help improve students’ math and English skills. These two topics, according to Cal State Fullerton's Early Assessment Program and College Readiness Coordinator Larry R. Chapa, are essential when starting college, yet not all high schoolers are ready to take these courses at a university level.

Chapa and his Cal State Fullerton team work with more than 70 public high schools in Los Angeles and Orange counties.
