Research Examines Eating Disorders Among Asian American Women

Finding that young Asian American women tend not to seek help for eating disorders, Yuying Tsong, associate professor of human services, led a study to better understand factors that involve cultural and family influences.
In collaboration with Rebekah Smart, associate professor of counseling, and three research students, the team found some common themes, including:
- Lack of knowledge of eating disorders, which extended to their parents
- Lack of knowledge of treatment available or how to seek treatment
