Supported by more than $1 million in grants, including $400,000 from the National Institutes of Health, Veronica Jimenez, assistant professor of biological science, is able to involve her graduate and undergraduate students in the study of the Chagas disease and to search for treatment options.
More than 300,000 cases of this tropical disease have been recorded in the U.S., and it has been linked with heart disease and increased risk of stroke.
