Formula SAE-Titan Racing Team Pleased With Nebraska Competition Results

Vincent Nguyen, who graduated from Cal State Fullerton in May with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering, waited all year long for June 21-24.
That’s when he and his Fullerton classmates on the university’s Formula SAE-Titan Racing team raced a vehicle they spent the last 10 months — and more than 10,000 hours — designing and building. With a two-cylinder engine, rather than a four-cylinder engine used in the past, the team made the vehicle significantly lighter.
The team raced at the Formula SAE competition in Lincoln, Neb., placing 58th out of 71 teams.
“We received the highest score we have ever gotten in the Design Presentation category. The concepts and fundamentals of our design and build were all praised and are headed in the right direction,” Nguyen said.
