Titan Tykes Go Under the Sea
June 21, 2017
Youngsters attending the Titan Tykes Speech Station, a communicative disorders program conducted in June by graduate students, enjoy “Ocean Day,” one of many themed activity days during the two-week program.
Kristofer Brock, assistant professor of communication sciences and disorders, who oversees the program, explains that by mixing social engagement and speech therapy in fun activities, children emerge from the program with an enhanced ability to verbalize their own experiences.
For Ocean Day, students transformed a classroom into the seashore, placing beach chairs, pails and blankets around a room decorated with chalk, stickers, crepe paper palm trees and a submarine fashioned from painted cardboard.
Watch the video segment aired in Chinese and English by New Tang Dynasty Television.
