CSUF Professor Honored for Engaging Students in Research

Cal State Fullerton computer engineering professor Kiran George is this year’s recipient of the L. Donald Shields Excellence in Scholarship and Creativity Award.

In a surprise visit April 13 to his class of senior computer engineering students, CSUF President Mildred García announced George’s selection.

Since he joined the Cal State Fullerton faculty in 2007, George has brought in more than $1.85 million in external funding for his research, including grants from the National Science Foundation and U.S. Army Research Labs. George has led a project targeting first-generation college students and underrepresented students and is leading efforts to create a bachelor’s program in engineering with a biomedical device engineering option.
