CSUF's Nursing Simulation Center Trains Future Midwives

With a median annual wage for nurse midwives of $92,510 compared to a registered nurse’s of $67,490, Cal State Fullerton is one of the few univiersities in California training and preparing this growing set of healthcare professionals. In fact, CSUF is only one of three universities in California offering this program. A total of about 40 universities throughout the United States have similar offerings.
Though often misunderstood, midwives are healthcare professionals who can independently manage the prenatal care, delivery, birth and postpartum care of a woman, along with caring for the newborn. This can include prenatal care, postpartum care, routine exams, biopsies and prescription needs. Continue reading in the Orange County Register.
