Cal State Fullerton’s celebration of Indigenous History Month kicks off Tuesday, Nov. 6, with a president’s reception centering on the theme “Native Voices Rising: Defending Land and Life.”
Eric Tippeconnic, lecturer in history and a professional artist, will serve as keynote speaker for the free, public event taking place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Titan Student Union, Portola Pavilion C.
A member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma, Tippeconnic’s research and artwork support the belief that Comanche and other indigenous cultures, while intimately connected to their origins and history, also are contemporary, alive and constantly evolving.
The reception is hosted by President Fram Virjee and his wife, Julie, in partnership with the Office of Diversity Initiatives and Resource Centers and the CSUF Inter-Tribal Student Council.
