Titans Work with Surf City to Help Recruit and Retain Employees


Students in Cal State Fullerton's “Public Organizational Theory and Behavior” class headed to Surf City to apply classroom theories to actual business practices. The class, taught Meriem Doucette, assistant professor of political science, partnered with the city of Huntington Beach to study four employment categories: accounting, analyst, clerical, and engineering. The students ultimately helped the city improve employee recruitment and retention. 

Antonia Graham, who serves as Huntington Beach’s assistant to the city manager and a fellow Titan added, “These types of learning experiences help students better understand what they are learning and how theories that you learn in class are applied to or are tweaked to make the organization better."
