How an Internship Landed a Student in Hollywood

Three Titans lauded the importance of utilizing Cal State Fullerton’s resources in finding internships that will help propel them toward future careers. CSUF grad Ameya Agavekar landed an internship with Lionsgate Entertainment with the help of the university’s Center for Internships and Community Engagement. While there, he crunched numbers in order to predict a movie’s projections and profits. “It is much easier to land a full-time role if you have an internship experience with a significant skill set in your area of expertise,” said Agavekar, who has done just that.
Carlos Juarez applied for CSUF’s Panetta Scholars Program, which led to interning in Washington, D.C., where he worked in the office of Rep. Jim Costa of Fresno. His duties included attending briefings on such issues as immigration, health care, taxes and infrastructure. Political science major Leah Milhander is yet another CSUF student who interned in in the nation’s capital. Her duties were with the House Foreign Affairs Committee, chaired by Ed Royce, a CSUF alum. She said she learned “to be eager for any opportunity that comes your way and take it” and about the importance of making connections.
