Triple Tassels: Three Members of Family Graduate Together From CSUF


“This is the best year ever. I can’t contain myself from all this joy,” said Maria Barrientos de Pantaleon, reflecting on the accomplishments her family celebrated this past weekend when three members joined CSUF’s Class of 2018.

The table in their Anaheim home has been covered with books as Pantaleon studied at one end on the home computer while her kids flanked her on their laptops, “working, working, working.” Husband Mario, a handyman and apprentice electrician, meanwhile, learned how to cook.

Pantaleon attributes the family’s diplomas partly to something she always told her kids: “You finish what you start.” When things get tough, she taught them, you have to regroup and tackle them again. “Because we don’t leave things unfinished.”
