Titan Voice: Saba Ansari on a Day in Sacramento Lobbying on Behalf of Her Fellow Students

This spring, I was fortunate enough to travel to Sacramento alongside CSUF President Fram Virjee, retired state Sen. Dick Ackerman and other proud Titans to speak with countless legislators about the importance of fully funding the California State University’s 23 campuses for the upcoming academic year.

Throughout my term as the Associated Students chief governmental officer, I have grown used to being the token student on search panels, meetings and in community spaces, but this felt different.

Our first meeting was with Assemblywoman Sabrina Cervantes, one of the state capitol’s youngest legislators and a tireless advocate for marginalized communities. With so much on the line and knowing that this first meeting could set the course for the day, I felt my hands shaking as we walked inside.
