Titan Voice: CSUF President Virjee Raps Ode to Graduates

President’s Scholar Rachel Herzog rapped her commencement speech, inspiring the university president to follow in her footsteps — on paper.

Over the past five months, I have jumped into myriad situations in which I could easily have made a fool of myself. And I will admit, there were times I succeeded. Wildly. Of course, in each of those situations, the Titan Family was kind and comforting, assuring me that the ceremonial first pitch at the baseball game wasn’t “that bad,” or that my voice sounded “nice” when I sang a show tune in a musical theater class.

But as fearless in the face of foolishness as I am, I like to think I know where to draw the line. So when I heard one of our 2018 graduates, Rachel Herzog, was delivering her commencement speech with the use of her hip hop skills, I knew better than to challenge her to a battle rap or attempt to emulate her creativity by rhyming my own commencement message.
