What Twins Can Teach Us About Nature vs. Nurture

 

Nancy Segal, CSUF professor of psychology, discusses the vast impact that growing up together vs. growing up apart from one another can have on twins.

“In an individual person, the contributions of genes and the environment are inestimable,” she explained, “but on a population basis, we can estimate how much person-to-person variation is explained by genetic and environmental differences.” She adds that we can see the extent of those differences  by studying an individual’s genes and the environment.
