Envisioning a Korean Studies Institute

Campus and Community Invited to Dec. 4 Summit

“Riding the Wave:  A Summit on Envisioning a Korean Studies Institute” will be held Friday, Dec. 4, in Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Student Union.

The goal of the 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. summit is to bring together faculty, staff, students, community members and business leaders to promote a greater understanding of Korea in the global community.

Opening remarks will be made by President Mildred García; Danny Kim, vice president for administration and finance/chief financial officer; and Assemblymember Young Kim.

Among those who will be presenting are: Edward Chang, director of the Young Oak Kim Center for Korean American Studies at UC Riverside; Daniel Ichinose, project director of the Demographic Research Project at Asian Americans Advancing Justice; and Cal State Fullerton faculty members: Eliza Noh, associate professor and coordinator of the Asian American studies program; Kristine Dennehy, professor of history; Ellen Kim, assistant professor of management; HyeKyeung Seung, professor of human communication studies; and Jim Taulli, professor of theatre and dance.

Moderators during lunchtime roundtables include Shari McMahan, deputy provost for academic affairs, and Sora Tanjisiri, chair and professor of the health sciences.
