Cal State Fullerton student teams took first and second place in a marketing strategy case competition during this month’s American Marketing Association West Coast Collegiate Chapter Regional Conference organized by CSUF, Long Beach and Cal Poly Pomona’s student chapters. More than 150 students from throughout the state attended the conference.
First-place winners of the competition were: junior business administration-marketing major Andrew Gonzalez and Nolan Maguire, a senior business administration major whose emphasis is operations management.
Second place was taken by seniors Colin Faulkner, an entrepreneurship major, and Kevin Ha, a marketing major.
“The students were given 20 minutes to review the Frito Lay case and put together a presentation that included an overall marketing strategy — product, place, price, and promotion. They had seven minutes to present before judges,” explained Kevin Chen, president of the campus organization and junior business administration-marketing major. “Competitors were reviewed on professionalism, presentation, quality, creativity, relevancy, effectiveness and ability to respond to follow-up questions.”
Judges for the contest, hosted by Frito-Lay, were from Frito-Lay/Pepsico and Grainger.
