Share This:

What can business leaders expect this coming year in the face of such challenges and uncertainties as election risks, Brexit, China’s slowdown, the advanced stage of the business cycle and a global outlook where risks are on the rise?

Cal State Fullerton economists Anil Puri and Mira Farka will discuss the  economic outlook for the U.S. and Orange County during the Nov. 2 Economic Forecast Conference, “World at a Crossroads: Navigating Risks in Pursuit of an Ideal Climate.” They will focus on pressing issues facing businesses, such as the Federal Reserve’s next move, outlook for business investments, labor markets and growth prospects. The economists also will offer a comparison between the two major political candidates on their economic proposal plans and their impact on the economy.

Anil Puri is currently serving as interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at Cal State Fullerton. He previously served as dean of the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics. He is director of the Woods Center for Economic Analysis and Forecasting.

Mira Farka, associate professor of economics and co-director of the Woods Center for Economic Analysis and Forecasting, previously worked on Wall Street as an economist with Deutsche Bank in New York.

The keynote speaker is Richard K. Davis, chairman, president and chief executive officer of U.S. Bancorp. Davis, a 1983 CSUF economics graduate, joined U.S. Bancorp in 1993 and has served as CEO since 2006. He has held executive-level positions with Bank of America and Security Pacific Bank.

The 22nd annual program, co-sponsored by Cal State Fullerton’s Mihaylo College of Business and Economics and the Orange County Business Council, will be held at the Hotel Irvine, 17900 Jamboree Rd., Irvine.
