Alisia Kirkwood Appointed Interim Dean of Students
Dec. 12, 2016
Alisia Kirkwood has been named interim dean of students for Cal State Fullerton, effective Jan. 1, while the search for a permanent dean commences.
Currently serving as the graduation specialist for the College of Education, Kirkwood provides academic advising for undergraduate students; facilitates outreach and counseling to prospective transfer students; hosts workshops on general education, graduation and teacher preparation requirements for diverse populations; and develops evidence-based interventions for male-identified future educators. Kirkwood also serves as an adviser for the Black Student Union, using her personal and professional experiences to inspire students to become campus leaders through service and scholarship.
Prior to joining the College of Education, Kirkwood served as the coordinator for Student Life and Leadership, a graduate assistant for Judicial Affairs and a co-instructor/student services professional for the First Year Student Success Course.
Kirkwood graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology from UC Riverside; a master's degree in education, with a concentration in higher education from CSUF; and is currently working toward her doctorate in education, also from CSUF.
Kirkwood will take on the duties of Tonantzin Oseguera, who was named associate vice president for student engagement in December.
