President Mildred García hosts an Oct. 20 LGBTQ History Month Celebration featuring keynote speaker Erica Woodland, founder of the National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network, an organization that provides support and resources for clinicians and therapists.
Woodland is a licensed clinical social worker and facilitator with more than 13 years of experience working with youth, people of color and LGBTQ individuals from throughout the country. She has worked in prisons, jails, group homes, psychiatric facilities, schools, nonprofit organizations and community-based clinics as well as grassroots groups.
The program will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Fullerton Arboretum.

- Oct. 10 — Latinx AIDS Awareness Day workshop from noon to 1 p.m.
- Oct. 11 — National Coming Out Day program, 5:30-7 p.m. in the Ontiveros Room C of the Titan Student Union

- Oct. 19 — “Latinx America LGBTQ Experiences: Interactive Display,” noon-1 p.m. walkway between the Pollak Library and the Titan Student Union
- Oct. 19 — “Pulse: Community Healing,” 4-6 p.m., Room 109 of Titan Shops

UPDATE: In addition to the events above, the African American Studies Department hosts “Black LGBT Lives Matter: A Queer Black Symposium,” 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Nov. 7, in the Titan Student Union’s Titan Theater.
The symposium is intended to bring together queer scholars, activists and artists to explore the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender black and Latino people, said organizer Siobhan Brooks, assistant professor of African American studies. Scheduled speakers include Jasmine Richards, founder of the Black Lives Matter Pasadena Chapter; hip-hop artist Juba Kalamka; and transgender rights activist Sylvia Guerrero.
