Titan Talks: Faculty Members Gather to Share Best Practices

President Mildred García met recently with faculty members from throughout the campus community to learn more about successful teaching practices and high-impact programs happening on campus.

The gathering was the second in a series of Titan Talks, the goal of which is to foster new partnerships in the name of student success and academic excellence.

“I understand what you do, how hard you work and the critical role you play in the lives of our students, and I want to thank you for all you do,” García said. “The goal of these meetings is to get to know one another better and to look ahead to how we can continue to ensure the success of our students.”

Faculty members representing the colleges of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Arts, Health and Human Development, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Mihaylo College of Business and Economics, focused on high-impact practices, including outreach efforts to local schools; working with students to increase understanding of different faith traditions; developing programs and workshops to engage and teach students; and encouraging students in areas ranging from writing journal articles to competing on national levels.

Titan Talks are one means of “moving the conversation forward” in creating a campus that prizes diversity, equity and inclusion, García noted.
