President Mildred García kicks off the University’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration with a Wednesday, Oct. 5, program featuring poet, lyricist and educator Denice Frohman. The 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. program will be held in the Fullerton Arboretum.
Frohman, whose work explores the “intersections of race, gender and sexuality,” was the 2014 National Association of Latino Arts & Cultures Fund for the Arts recipient and a 2014 Canto Mundo Fellow.
In 2013, she was named Women of the World Poetry Slam Champion and a recipient of the Hispanic Choice Award’s “Creative Artist of the Year.” Frohman is the former program director for the Philly Youth Poetry Movement, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that works with teens to help them transform themselves and their communities through creative voice.
