OLLI Talks Focus on Successful Transition to Retirement

To ease transition to retirement, Cal State Fullerton’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) will host a series of classes this fall, covering topics from financial planning and maintaining good health to cleaning out clutter.

The free, public programs are held in the Shapiro wing of CSUF’s Ruby Gerontology Center, 800 N. State College Blvd., Fullerton, 92831. On-campus parking is $8 for a daily permit Monday through Friday.

Transitions in Retirement Essentials
9:30-noon Saturdays

  • Sept. 10 — “Maintaining Good Health in Retirement” with Nicole Garcia, family physician for Doctors of California Integrated Wellness
  • Sept. 17 — “Positive Psychology” with Barbara Cherry, CSUF professor of psychology
  • Sept. 24 — “Financial Strategies in Retirement” with Gary Bowman, certified financial planner
  • Oct. 1 — “The Eyes Have It” with Rajiv Rathod, opthamologist for Orange County Retina
  • Oct. 8 — “Cleaning Out the Clutter and Hoarding” with Penny Lambright, owner of Clutter Cleaners
  • Oct. 15 — “Medicare Essentials: What You need to Know When You Sign Up for Benefits” with Susan Zajfen, education and outreach specialist for Council on Aging-Orange County, Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program
  • Oct. 22 — “Advances in Home Automation” with Sam Prum
  • Oct. 29 — “Social Security Essentials” with Jeffrey Rodriguez, public affairs specialist for the Social Security Administration
  • Nov. 5 — “Alternative Treatments for Pain Management” with Stephen Tsai, founder of East West Medical Group
  • Nov. 12 — “Around the World, Travel While Learning” with Sonia Maslovskaya and Matt Onorato, travel relation managers for Grand Circle Travel
  • Nov. 19 — “The Importance of Inflammation in Our Health” with Norman Myers, physician at St. Jude Medical Center
