Alvin Rangel-Alvarado, assistant professor of dance, has teamed up with Rita Page, a CSUF staff member in Faculty Affairs and an adjunct faculty member at Mt. San Antonio College, to curate “African American Concert Dance Legacy: 1930-1970s.” The exhibition runs Monday, Feb. 1, through Sunday, March 20, in the Pollak Library’s Atrium Gallery.

A 4 p.m. Feb. 1 opening ceremony in the Titan Student Union’s Portola Pavilion will feature guest speaker Lula Washington, founder and artistic director of the Lula Washington Dance Theatre.

The exhibition highlights concert dancers and choreographers spanning more than 40 years as part of the social protest movements for civil rights. They are illustrated through print media, photography, costumes, videos, oral history audio and live performances. More information is available online.
