Ever nearly walk into a wall or someone because you were so focused on reading and texting Facebook messages?

You could be addicted. Automatic and uncontrolled use of technologies, such as social media, in a manner resembling the addictive use of substances is increasingly recognized as a problem for millions of Americans, including many young adults. Ofir Turel, professor of information systems and decision sciences, discusses the roots of such behaviors from a neuroscience perspective.

Turel and a team from the University of Southern California recently examined Facebook addiction from a neurological perspectice in a coauthored study of the neural activities of 20 uses ages 18-23. Continue reading.
