Going for a Three-Time Win

Cal State Fullerton civil engineering students are poised to become three-time national champs. For the sixth year in a row, CSUF students have been invited to the national "Geo-wall" design competition, presented by the Geo-Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers. CSUF teams won first place in the national Geo-wall contest in 2014 and 2015.

CSUF is among 20 universities invited to compete at the 2016 Geotechnical and Structural Engineering Congress Feb. 14-17 in Phoenix. Geo-wall team members are: graduate student and team captain John Thurlo, and undergraduates Rosalie Chavez, Shelley Rodriguez and John Stapleton.

The team received a $2,000 travel grant and is mentored by Beena Ajmera, '12 and '11 (M.S. civil engineering; B.S. civil engineering and B.A. mathematics-applied mathematics), assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering and award-winning presenter at past conferences.
