Training Fullerton Residents to Serve as Health Advocates

Share This:

Cal State Fullerton’s Center for Healthy Neighborhoods will launch a new Latino/Latina Neighborhood Health Advocates program this fall to increase access to health care and social services in the Richman Neighborhood Park area.

In partnership with the Fullerton School District and local health and social service agencies, the center will train 15 local residents — parents recruited from Title 1 elementary schools — as community health workers who can provide basic health assessments, referrals and follow-ups. The health advocates program is funded through a grant from Kaiser Permanente.
