Children’s Author Nikki Grimes to Speak at Pollak Library

Award-winning children’s book author, poet and teacher Nikki Grimes visits Cal State Fullerton March 21 to give a free, public talk about social justice and how it drives her poetry and fiction. The 12:30-2:30 p.m. event takes place in Room 130 of the Pollak Library.

Grimes is a New York Times best-selling author and the recipient of the 2017 Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, 2016 Virginia Hamilton Literary Award and 2006 National Council of Teachers of English Award for Excellence in Poetry for Children. Her works include “What is Goodbye?,” “Bronx Masquerade,” “Jazmin’s Notebook,” “Talkin’ About Bessie,” “Dark Sons,” “The Road to Paris” and “Words With Wings.” She also is the creator of the popular “Meet Danitra Brown” series.

The event is sponsored by the Patrons of the Library and the Donoghue Children’s Literature Center.
