CSUF Welcomes President Framroze Virjee
Jan. 1, 2018
Framroze (Fram) Virjee assumed the presidency of California State University, Fullerton today for a term appointment through June 2019.
“I am honored and very excited to join Cal State Fullerton and to collaborate with our diverse faculty, staff, and students who make the Titan family so special,” said President Virjee. “I have long admired their innovative work and drive toward success, and hope to contribute to and build upon the University’s momentum as an emerging national model of equity, inclusion and academic excellence.”
Virjee is former executive vice chancellor and general counsel for the California State University where he served for four years before joining Cal State Fullerton. In his former position he also served as secretary to the system’s Board of Trustees.
Before joining the CSU, Virjee was a partner for nearly 30 years at O’Melveny & Myers, the oldest law firm in Los Angeles and one of the largest in the nation.
In a March 2016 interview with Modern Counsel, Virjee said “The potential for us to build the nation’s leaders is what led me to the CSU,” noting that many of the CSU’s students are first-generation college students. “I wanted to be a part of serving them. … This work gives me purpose and compassion, and seeing the results shows me that this is more than a legal job with no social impact.”
