Actress Misty Monroe Headlines Black History Month Celebration

Sharing her journey to achieving a healthy black identity while growing up in both white suburbia and South Central Los Angeles, actress Misty Monroe will perform her live show “Unapologetically Black” Thursday, Feb. 22, as part of Cal State Fullerton’s annual celebration of Black History Month.

The free show begins at 6 p.m. in the Little Theatre of Clayes Performing Arts Center. Following the performance, CSUF President Fram Virjee will host a reception to recognize the continuing contributions of African Americans.

An alumna of the California State University system, Monroe has appeared in such shows as “How I Met Your Mother,” “1600 Penn,” “Baskets,” “2 Broke Girls” and “Bosch” and has written for the show “Shaded.” She holds a bachelor’s degree in theatre from San Diego State University, teaching credentials from Cal State Dominguez Hills and a master’s degree in education from Cal State LA.
