Cal State Fullerton’s Geography Club and Department of Geography and the Environment will host their annual “All Points of the Compass” conference Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Titan Student Union, Portola Pavilion A and B.
Free and open to the public, the conference showcases research from geography faculty, students, alumni and others. Presentations include:
- 10:10-10:30 a.m. — “Examining the Climate Response of Common Pines in Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks” by graduate student Ray Villalba
- 10:30-10:50 a.m. — “Wildfire Detection and Assessment With Satellite Remote Sensing” by Jindong Wu, associate professor of geography and the environment
- 11:25-11:45 a.m. — “An American Geographer’s Adventures in Cuba” by Jodi Titus ’99, ’02 (B.A., M.A. geography), lecturer in geography and the environment
- 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. — “Traveling Our Magnificent World: A Geographer’s Perspective” keynote presentation by Matt Ebiner, El Camino College professor
- 12:40-1 p.m. — “Rhino Conservation: Perspectives From the Field” by Lilia Illes, lecturer in geography and the environment
- 1-1:20 p.m. — “Gentrification, Gentrifiers and the Genitocracy: Changes in Place Ownership in Santa Ana” by graduate student Ryan Koyanagi
- 1:20-1:50 p.m. — “Geography Students in the Field” student panel presentation by Topanga Betke, Gemayel Goxcon, Elois Joseph and Guadalupe Maldonado
