Campus to Host ‘Destino 2020’ Town Hall on 2020 Election and Census

2020 is a big year for residents of the United States, with the presidential election determining the direction of the country for the next four years and the 2020 census that will apportion congressional seats and impact budgets. For members of the Latinx community, these two events present additional challenges and opportunities.

“Destino 2020: Our Voices, a Campus Town Hall” will address what’s at stake for this population and discuss ways to get involved in the political process Friday, Oct. 25, 5-7 p.m. in Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Theater.

All are welcome to attend the English-language forum hosted by the university’s Latino Communications Institute, along with Univision 34 Los Angeles and the Latino Community Foundation. However, space is limited, so it is advisable to reserve a spot at the Destino 2020 Facebook event page.

Before the start of the 6 p.m. livestream event, moderated by Yarel Ramos, Univision host of Edicíon Digital California, attendees can register to vote and obtain census information.

The town hall is a unique opportunity for CSUF College of Communications students to be involved on both sides of the camera; undergraduates in the “Spanish Language TV News” course will be working the cameras and shadowing Univision producers and talent before and during the event.
