Cal State Fullerton ranked eighth in the nation for Hispanic enrollment among the nation’s four-year schools in Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education’s Aug. 26 issue, “Top 100 Colleges for Hispanics.”

The university currently offers 110 degree programs and in fall 2018 had an enrollment of nearly 40,000 students. Hispanic/Latinx students make up 41.5 percent of the student body.

In addition, CSUF — a U.S. Department of Education-designated Hispanic-Serving Institution — was rated 27th nationally for total number of graduate-level degrees awarded to Hispanic students.

In awarding degrees to Hispanic students by specific areas of study, the university is ranked:

  • Second in communications and media studies
  • Second in business administration management and operations
  • Third in teacher education and professional development specific levels and methods
  • Sixth for parks, recreation, leisure and fitness studies

The rankings are based on 2016-17 preliminary data collected by the U.S. Department of Education.

Earlier this year, Hispanic Outlook on Education ranked Cal State Fullerton second on the magazine’s Top Communication and Journalism Programs and fifth in California and 14th in the nation in its January-February 2019 listing of top 25 universities for Hispanic enrollment in engineering.
