Erica Lizano is back, full-circle, where her educational journey began.
An assistant professor in the Department of Social Work starting her second semester at Cal State Fullerton, Lizano teaches her students about child welfare policies and how to advocate for change by organizing people or developing a nonprofit. Her research focuses on job burnout, stress and turnover in her field.
“It’s about helping the helper. That’s how I see my work,” Lizano said in an interview in her office.
Looking back at her high school self, Lizano would never have expected to go to college, let alone work her way through a bachelor’s, two masters and a doctorate on the road to becoming a professor. Continue reading in The Orange County Register.
