Cal State Fullerton has been awarded almost $2.4 million from the U.S. Department of Education to develop and oversee a comprehensive high school equivalency program (HEP) to assist migrant farm workers and their children. First-year funding from the five-year grant is $475,000, with Pablo Jasis, associate professor of elementary and bilingual education, directing the campus program.

The CSUF-HEP program will offer an array of community- and campus-based instruction and support services, as well as a transition-to-college component to serve students of migrant and seasonal backgrounds in Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

CSUF is partnering with the College Assistance Migrant Program at Santiago Canyon College; Migrant Education Program Region IX, administered by the San Diego County Office of Education; the Anaheim Union High School District; and the National Latino Education Network.
