President García to Deliver Convocation Address Monday

Cal State Fullerton President Mildred García will address the campus community Monday, Aug. 17, during the University’s annual convocation address.

Among the more than 500 faculty, staff and students expected to attend the 10 a.m. program will be new faculty members joining the campus this year.

The program in Meng Concert Hall in the Clayes Performing Arts Center will be followed by a reception.

García is expected to review the achievements Cal State Fullerton has made since last fall and give an update on the Strategic Plan and where the institution will be moving this year in meeting the plan’s four goals:

  • Develop and maintain a curricular and co-curricular environment that prepares students for participation in a global society and is responsive to workforce needs
  • Improve student persistence, increase graduation rates University wide and narrow the achievement gap for underrepresented students
  • Recruit and retain a high-quality and diverse faculty and staff
  • Increase revenue through fundraising, entrepreneurial activities, grants and contracts

In addition, García will be unveiling some of the incredible achievements of the past year.
