Economic Forecast to Address Economic and Cyber Uncertainty

Cal State Fullerton economists Anil K. Puri and Mira Farka will discuss what the economic future may hold during the 2015 Economic Forecast Conference Oct. 29. The annual conference is presented by CSUF’s Mihaylo College of Business and Economics and the Orange County Business Council.

Richard K. Davis, U.S. Bancorp chairman, president and CEO, is the featured speaker and will be discussing cyber security and the economic outlook.

Who:                    

The presenters are:

  • Anil K. Puri, dean of Mihaylo College of Business and Economics since 1999 and co-director of the Woods Center for Economic Analysis and Forecasting.
  • Mira Farka, associate professor of economics and co-director of the Woods Center for Economic Analysis and Forecasting, previously served on Wall Street as a research consultant and an economist with Deutsche Bank in New York.      
  • Richard K. Davis, a 1983 Cal State Fullerton economics graduate who has served with U.S. Bancorp since 1993, becoming president in 2004, CEO in 2006 and chairman in 2007.

The event will “lay out the outlook for the recovery: whether it will out-trump the sluggish growth of the past six years or whether the long slog will persist,” said Mira Farka. “We are going through what is perhaps the more perilous patch since the Great Recession as global growth falters, China stumbles, production downshifts and the Fed readies to embark on the first tightening cycle in a decade.”
