The children’s book series “Monster and Me,” illustrated by Wendy Grieb, assistant professor of art, was awarded the 2015 Moonbeam Silver Medal for Best Picture Book Series.
Grieb also had an illustration accepted into The Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles’ Illustration West 54 show, which opens Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Society of Illustrators LA Gallery in Eagle Rock.
Mike Dietz, assistant professor of art, was the animation director of his latest game creation, “Armikrog.” Created using classic stop-motion animation sculpting, set building and clay and puppet fabrication techniques, the game follows the adventures of space explorer Tommynaut and his alien dog Beak-Beak.
Grieb will be a panelist and Dietz a panel moderator at the Oct. 24-25 World Animation Celebration in Los Angeles. Carol Ashley, assistant professor of art, is one of the organizers of this event, which showcases student and professional animated short films from more than 40 countries.
The CSUF student team that won the recent 24 Hours Animation Contest for Students will also be at the event, representing their winning stop-motion short.
