President Mildred García spoke at the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities 128th Annual Meeting Sunday, Nov. 15, as part of a panel discussing “Dimensions of Diversity.” More than 1,300 public university presidents, chancellors and other senior leaders are attending the meeting.
García and the other panelists discussed efforts to diversify the administration, faculty and student body, and to enliven intellectual content and the nature of on-campus and campus-community interactions. These results-oriented efforts can foster a climate and culture of inclusion that serves as a framework of civic learning and democratic engagement for institutions of higher education and the broader society.
García was chosen to present based on her years of experience and advocacy for diversity in higher education.
