In recognition of Earth Day and to promote a smoke-free campus, Fresh Air Advocates from the Division of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion will hold a Cigarette Butt Clean-up event Friday, April 22.
Since CSUF became a smoke-free campus in 2013, the Fresh Air Advocates — who are student peer educators — have advocated for the smoke-free campus through peer education, cigarette butt clean-up events each semester and outreach signage throughout campus.
This semester, the advocates also developed a partnership with the Orange County Department of Education. They have been educating and encouraging high school freshmen not to smoke while at the same time, extolling the benefits of higher education. Because of these efforts, freshmen from Laguna Hill High School will join Cal State Fullerton students at Friday’s event.
