For the third year in a row, the Applied Securities Analysis Program — in which students use real funds to make real investments in the stock market to gain valuable experience in portfolio managment and securities analysis — has donated its investment returns to the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics’ Tutoring Center.
Graduates from the program have taken their classroom knowledge and the experience from being a part of ASAP to gain positions with such companies as Edward Jones, Deutsche Bank, Pacific Life and Disney.
Michael Milligan, who teaches the two-semester, two-course program, stresses the importance of making the experience as realistic as possible to “bring students up to speed on what they will be dealing with when they begin their careers.
“Its a great learning experience to be working in that kind of experience,” adds Milligan.
