Selected by their peers, three Cal State Fullerton nursing students received the Latham Support Award for Most Valuable Person this spring. The new award is named for Christine Latham, professor of nursing, for her longtime contributions to student success.
The Latham award is granted to baccalaureate nursing students in good standing, who are supportive of their peers and demonstrate approachability, friendliness, understanding, open and honest communication, and humor.
The 2015-2016 recipients and their academic programs are:
- Charmaine Lim, bachelor of science in nursing program
- Aimee Mendoza, licensed vocational nurse to bachelor of science in nursing program
- Hoa (Henry) Nguyen, registered nurse to bachelor of science in nursing program
“Service to others is my way of honoring my grandparents, who have helped so many people during their lifetime despite their humble beginnings,” said Mendoza. “Through them, I have witnessed how simple acts of kindness can turn into so many grand and wonderful possibilities.”
The three students received certificates during the May 14 School of Nursing Recognition Luncheon. Their names will be added to a plaque in the School of Nursing.
