The barricades are coming down, the dust is being cleared and students, faculty and staff will soon see for themselves what the newly completed Titan Student Union expansion is all about. A Thursday, Oct. 20, grand opening will feature music and free food at 1 p.m., with opening remarks and a ribbon-cutting at 2 p.m.
Approximately 27,000-square-feet of new space has been added, including a new south side entrance that opens to the grand staircase and atrium, as well as a plethora of seating and gathering areas in which campus members can meet, relax and recharge.
“Our goal was to not only add much-needed public-use space, but spaces that would be fun and lively for not only students but other campus members and visitors to enjoy and use,” said Carol McDoniel, Associated Students Inc. (ASI) director of administration, who has been spearheading the expansion with Drew Wiley, ASI director of leader and program development. “We are so pleased at what has been created and know that students will appreciate all that the facility has to offer.”
