The President’s Commission on Equity and Inclusion will host its first in a series of Civil Dialogues Tuesday, Sept. 5, in the Pollak Library’s Rotary Club of Fullerton, Room 130. The 1-2 p.m. talk is themed “Immigration.”
Commission member Tara Suwinyattichaiporn, assistant professor of human communication studies will introduce the topic. Attendees will be invited to take one of five chairs to embody their position ranging from “agree strongly” to “disagree strongly” and participate by discussing varying points of view on the topic, to build bridges across diverse viewpoints, she said. Lee Thach, a graduate student in human communication studies, will assist Suwinyattichaiporn.
There are 100 seats in the room and registration is required.
Suwinyattichaiporn is one of five faculty members who make up the inaugural class of fellows who are creating workshops, revising classes and instituting programs to increase awareness of and support of all campus members. Additional talks are set for Oct. 10 and Nov. 7, but the topics have not been determined.
