Eleven Cal State Fullerton students have begun the spring semester with scholarships underwritten by the university’s emeriti. The scholars were recognized last month for their scholastic achievements, university accomplishments and community service at a special luncheon.
Four graduate students were awarded $2,000 Emeriti Scholarships. They are:
Allison Leigh Frenzel, education technology
Amin Azam, nursing
Edgar M. Tease, education technology
Dianna J. Blake, English
Seven undergraduates were honored with $2,000 Benson Scholarships. They are:
Ruby J. Patchell, theatre arts
Madeline J. Thompson, chemistry and math
Iulian Mocanu, mechanical engineering
Stormy L. Gaylord, dance
Henry R. Taylor, physics and math
Bryan D. Morales, business administration-accounting
Steven F. Schrenzel, education-teaching credential
The Emeriti Memorial Scholarship Fund was initiated in 1987 and currently supports awards to full-time, upper-division undergraduates; graduate students; and/or students in the Guardian Scholars program. The fund is supported through members of the Emeriti organization, as well as family and friends of deceased emeriti.
The Benson Scholarship Endowment Fund was created in 2014 as part of a gift from the estate of Russell Benson, professor emeritus of mathematics, who served the campus community for 18 years.
In addition, members of the CSUF Emeriti maintain an Emeriti Library Endowment Fund to help build collections in the Pollak Library.
