Cal State Fullerton faculty members specializing in anthropology, Asian American studies, cinema and television arts, history and psychology will give a variety of Orange County-based talks this spring.
Allison Varzally, professor of history; Sarah Grant, assistant professor of anthropology; and Phuoc Duong, lecturer in Asian American studies, will discuss the past, present and future of Vietnamese California March 7 at Viet Bao Daily News in Westminster. The Boom California event will be moderated by Jason Sexton, the publication’s editor.
Bob Engels, associate professor of cinema and television arts, will speak at a March 24 Orange County Screenwriters Association seminar in Fountain Valley. He will discuss his work as a writer and producer on the television show “Twin Peaks” in a presentation titled “She’s Dead, Wrapped in Plastic.”
Nancy L. Segal, professor of psychology and author of several books about twins, will discuss her upcoming book, “Accidental Brothers: The Story of Twins Exchanged at Birth and the Power of Nature and Nurture,” April 7 at the Literary Orange event in Newport Beach and April 26 at Pages bookstore in Manhattan Beach.
