Cal State Fullerton recently celebrated the achievements of the student-run sports clubs at the Sports Clubs Inter-Club Council’s annual spring banquet.
The 16 clubs, which feature such sports as archery, baseball, Lacrosse, roller hockey and softball, work with the council and the Office of Student Life & Leadership for advisement and support.
Highlights from the 2017-18 season include teams making it to national championships, upsetting top-ranked programs and going undefeated in their leagues.
The Division II roller hockey club placed first at the NCRHA national championship in 2017 and now compete in Division 1. This year, the Division 1 and III teams made it to nationals. The ice hockey club finished strong nationally ranking 25th out of 350 squads.
The equestrian team sent two riders to regionals, zone finals and IHSA Nationals in Kentucky, where both placed in the top 10 in the country. The archery team had three archers in the top 10 at nationals with one team archer taking second.
Baseball beat an NAIA division-ranked team and hosted a tournament, while softball defeated Grand Canyon University ending the Arizona team’s undefeated streak.
Men’s Lacrosse went 5-0 in their league this season and competed in the MCLA national tournament for Division II last season, while the women’s Lacrosse team went undefeated.
Women’s soccer finished second in their league, and the men’s team competed at the nationals. Women’s volleyball won a league tournament during their season.
